Kiwibank recently released data pertaining the most recent Auckland focused level 3 lock down. We saw a familiar drop in spending in Auckland during this period, but the contraction was less severe this time around. People and organisations have advanced their digital behaviours & tools (be it Zoom meetings while working from home, enjoying Netflix over the movies, buying goods or groceries online etc) – the shock of this most recent lock down was overall less severe, in many ways. As a nation, we have adjusted our sails as best as possible and are better equipped to handle these situations. The full report can be found here.
Interestingly, if there is one common theme amongst most new positions we have placed recently or are working on currently, it is that their purpose is to accelerate growth. Whether it is a mature listed company looking to stretch up another 100 basis points of share or revenue growth, or a locally owned SME trying to arrive in 2021 ahead of the pack with renewed spark; whether its additional resource & new skills in Sales or Regulatory or Quality or Engineering – the aim has often been to drive business improvement and ultimately support further commercial growth. It’s been a telling last month across NZ. With all the pain occurring, we are also observing an array of organisations looking further over the horizon, seeing, finding, and creating untapped potential.
