Company bulletin – May

These are extraordinary times globally. COVID-19 has brought pain & uncertainty to many around the world and in New Zealand. How many of us would have predicted a nationwide lockdown and the rapid increase in unemployment, back in the new year? Our thoughts go out to those who are suffering, especially those who have lost loved ones. We would like to thank all essential workers for their outstanding contributions in keeping NZ moving during lock down, in challenging circumstances. We are incredibly proud of New Zealand.

You may have noticed a change in our branding recently. As planned for some time, we have refreshed our brand and launched a new digital platform. We are passionate about the foundation it will provide us to share insightful content and connect with more New Zealanders to create positive change. Take a look at our new website www.scitex.co.nz or learn more about the update with some FAQs. We are still contactable on the same emails and phone numbers; this change won’t impact our partners. We welcome your feedback, suggestions or questions – please feel free to email me on gareth@scitex.co.nz

From an economic perspective, when challenges and change come, so do new opportunities. While our ability to source talent internationally has been temporarily hampered, we are meeting particularly strong local candidates coming onto the job market through no fault of their own. They offer tremendous skill sets and open minds. Clearly the timing may not be right for many businesses; many are rethinking their organisations future and are in a holding pattern from a recruitment perspective due to revenue declines – this is understandable. However, at this time there may be an opportunity to add some outstanding long-term skill sets from leading employers to your business.

We recognise that this will be a challenging period for many businesses and their people. We are here to provide you with any market intelligence relating to talent, salary bench marking, or market/sector observations required to help you get further perspective on what is going on, as change has accelerated quickly. If you have a request, reach out. We will do our very best to help wherever we can.

As always, below are some of the candidates we have engaged with recently who offer great skill sets, for your perusal. We have not included a ‘Temp & Contractor’ section, as in this climate many candidates normally only open to Permanent roles are now also open to shorter term or Temporary assignments which could lead to permanent roles.

We wish you a safe passage over the coming months as we navigate these times together. Take care.

He waka eke noa.

We are all in this together.

Kind regards,

Gareth Robertson, Managing Director
