Validation and Process Engineer

Our client is a growing natural health product manufacturer based in Hastings, producing high-quality tonics, syrups, and teas. With new equipment and process changes underway, we are seeking a Process Engineer / Validation Specialist to join our production team on a part time basis. This role will ensure our manufacturing processes are validated, consistent, compliant, and optimised for quality and efficiency.
 
Role Overview This hands-on role combines process validation and engineering, with responsibility for ensuring our formulations remain on-specification, yields are consistent, and equipment performs to required standards. You will develop and document process and equipment validation, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement across production.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Review, validate, and optimise production processes for herbal tonics, syrups, and teas.
  • Conduct process and equipment validation for new and existing machinery.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, validation protocols, and reports.
  • Investigate and resolve process variances (e.g. over-yields, out-of-specification batches).
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and R&D teams to align processes with product specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and support operators on new processes, controls, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent quality.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in food, beverage, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of process validation, equipment qualification, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of GMP, HACCP, or similar quality systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to process improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.

Details:
Please note:
This role is not a full time position, requiring someone for approximately 2 weeks intially, followed by on-call work on an ongoing basis.  Our client is happy to accept candidates from outside the region and will pay for flights and accommodation on required dates.
