Quality and Compliance Manager

  • Own and lead food safety, quality systems and audit readiness
  • Guide compliance across the business with confidence and clarity
  • Work closely with leadership to shape high-quality, trusted products

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing New Zealand food business, seeking a confident and capable QA & Compliance Lead to take full ownership of their food safety and quality systems. This is a rare opportunity to join a progressive, values-driven company committed to making great products the right way.

We’re open to considering both full-time and part-time arrangements, and welcome applications from professionals at various stages of their quality careers — whether you’re an experienced leader, or looking to step up into a broader, QA role.

You will bring strong technical leadership, hands-on QA experience, and a drive for continuous improvement across systems and culture. You’ll be trusted to manage and evolve quality and compliance systems end-to-end – from internal auditing and verification to documentation and external audit readiness.
You’ll also oversee critical allergen controls, including gluten-free production areas, where maintaining the highest standards of cross-contamination management is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage QA systems across the business (HACCP, allergen management, food safety, FCP, compliance)
  • Own document control, traceability, internal audits and external audit preparation
  • Champion quality culture across production and leadership teams
  • Maintain and improve site-specific systems to regulatory and customer standards
  • Manage allergen and gluten-free controls with precision and care
  • Collaborate with external consultants as needed (e.g. for NPD input)
  • Ensure all product specifications, PIFs and associated product documentation are maintained
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing

About You

  • Proven experience leading QA in food or bakery manufacturing environments
  • Advanced HACCP certification with practical application
  • Strong working knowledge of FCP and MPI compliance
  • Confident communicator and hands-on leader
  • Collaborative, supportive and people-focused in your approach
  • Bonus: experience with NPD or technical formulation

What’s in it for you?

  • Step into a senior role with full ownership of QA and compliance systems in a business undergoing exciting growth and transformation under new ownership
  • Work across a diverse range of products in a dynamic food manufacturing environment – every day brings something new and interesting
  • Be part of the leadership team, influencing decisions and quality culture from the inside out – your expertise will be heard and respected
  • Join a company with long-term ambitions, real momentum, and active investment in systems, people, and quality standards
