Production Manager – Commercial Bakery

A premium bakery operating in a large-scale commercial capacity, they create top-quality products for major brands, distributors and locations across NZ.
 
At an exciting junction under new ownership, they are seeking fresh energy, innovation and ambition, and as a result are looking for a talented Production Manager to join them on this exciting journey in a newly created position.

We’re looking for someone who shares their hunger for growth and is ready to play a key role in shaping the future. This role has strong long term General Management potential and offers the chance to be central to a wide range technological and process enhancements that are ripe for the picking.

About the Role:

As Production Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the production process, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage a growing team of production staff and lead initiatives that will drive quality, efficiency and growth across their operations.
  
The ideal candidate enjoys getting their hands dirty in anything required, no task is too big or too small.

Key parts of the role:

• Production Oversight: Lead the production of bread, cakes, desserts and other premium products, ensuring top-tier quality and consistency.
• Scaling Operations: Develop and implement strategies to grow production capacity while maintaining operational efficiency and product quality.
• Team Leadership: Inspire, lead and develop a team of production staff, creating a culture of excellence and continuous improvement; lead others to become better team leaders.
• Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement, streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
• Inventory & Scheduling: Oversee inventory management, production planning, and rostering to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Quality Control: Uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  
What we’re looking for:

• Experience: Ideally 5+ years of hands-on experience in commercial bakery or food manufacturing.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced environment, ideally 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Expertise: Strong knowledge of food safety standards, quality control and production management.
• Innovative Thinking: A natural problem-solver who thrives on improving processes and driving efficiency.
• Adaptability: Resilient and positive under pressure, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Hands-On: A practical down to earth leader who’s keen to get involved on the production floor, or wherever needed.
