Calibration and Maintenance Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Calibration and Maintenance Engineer to join a thriving life science business.

Our client is getting ready for the next stage of their business, their award winning product range is aiding patients around the world to recover from surgery more quickly.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be an essential team player overseeing over a 1,000 items of equipment and utilities across all shapes and sizes.

You will pride yourself on your excellent calibration and maintenance techniques, planning ahead to minimize production downtime. Your passion for keeping accurate documentation will aid you to be successful in this dynamic yet compliance based role. 

What will you be doing?

  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to reduce costs, maximize efficiencies, and minimize production downtime.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with schedules, standards, and CMMS procedures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and external contractors for both in-house and off-site calibration, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance and calibration documentation is accurate and completed on time.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing team to minimize production downtime during calibration, maintenance, and breakdowns.
  • Assist with the implementation of new equipment and processes within the manufacturing operations.
  • Contribute to process improvements and corrective actions related to production equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required to support manufacturing efficiency and equipment performance.

What skills and experience do you bring?

  • You will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering or related.
  • Minimum 2 years (ideally 3-4 years) experience in a calibration and maintenance capacity, in a medical device, pharmaceutical or another GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with a CMMS system is very helpful.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills. 
  • Fantastic communication, and ability to engage stakeholders cross functionally.
