Legal Executive – RMA

Are you passionate about Resource Management Act (RMA) law and thrive on managing complex property, subdivision, and consent matters? We are seeking an experienced RMA centric Legal Executive to join our client’s team and provide expert legal advice, support, and strategic guidance on a wide range of resource management and environmental issues.

Whether you’re early in your career or looking to make a shift, this role offers you the chance to support business units, advise leaders, and influence key decisions across sectors, including Pharmaceuticals, Dairy, and Property Development throughout ANZ and Asia.

About the Role:
As a Legal Executive, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialised legal expertise in resource management, subdivisions, consents, and compliance. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to navigate the intricacies of RMA legislation, ensuring all legal and regulatory obligations are met. This is an exciting opportunity to influence key projects and drive successful outcomes in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on RMA matters, including subdivisions, land use consents, and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare advice on complex issues related to resource management and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate resource consent applications and property-related legal matters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review contracts and agreements related to resource management and property development.
  • Support litigation matters, including preparing documentation, liaising with external counsel, and participating in dispute resolution processes.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters, including compliance with RMA legislation and best practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with RMA and related environmental regulations. 
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and stakeholders on RMA policies and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of resource management and environmental legislation, keeping the company informed of any changes or risks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align policies, procedures, and projects with legal and environmental standards.

What you need to bring:

  • A relevant legal qualification or equivalent experience in resource management and property law
  • Knowledge of the Resource Management Act, property subdivisions, and consent processes
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal research skills
  • Motivated and detail oriented professional with a desire to learn and grow
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin is a bonus (not mandatory)
