Fitter Welder / Maintenance Engineer – 3 Month Contract

Our globally recognised food manufacturing client is looking for a experienced fitter welder or maintenance engineer to assist with a multitude of small projects in their modern facility.

Working hands-on, this role involves servicing of plant and machinery with your primary responsibilities will be centred on maintenance and fabrication.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Engineering supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clients production machinery and equipment. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting to clear a backlog of engineering issues on the plant and facility.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and replacing faulty components as needed.
  • Stainless steel fabrication and welding to assist with ventilation and ducting.
  • Carrying out routine inspections to identify potential problems and proactively address them.
  • Following safety protocols and ensuring compliance with industry regulations during all maintenance activities.
  • Documenting maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts used accurately for record-keeping purposes.
  • Assisting in the installation of new equipment and machinery as part of expansion projects.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in a FMCG
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with various hand and power tools used in mechanical maintenance.
  • Current NZ Welding Tickets for MIG & TIG
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
