The Company

Our client is a pharmaceutical company that has been developing and producing innovative health supplement formulations from the highest-quality ingredients right here in New Zealand for over 25 years. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing their cutting-edge facilities.

The Role

This role reports to the engineering manager and acts as the second-in-command in the maintenance team, with a strong potential for future growth and management positions.

The Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for leading the maintenance team in ensuring that machinery, equipment, and facilities operate efficiently and safely. This involves planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime and improve production efficiency.

Key responsibilities of the role includes:
  • Ensure optimal operation of all equipment through regular inspections and maintenance procedures.
  • Design and implement upgrades to improve efficiency and safety, including installing new systems. 
  • Strictly follow industry regulations, including those set forth by MedSafe/MPI/TGA and other relevant regulatory authorities, to protect both employees and products.
  • Implement Good Manufacturing Practices according to pharmaceutical standards.
  • Oversee the daily operations to ensure timely and effective maintenance of machinery and equipment. 
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to maintenance team members. 
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5-7years of experience in maintenance engineering in pharmaceuticals or food manufacturing field.
  • Knowledge of GMP and other relevant regulatory requirements is desirable
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and in-depth understanding of maintenance best practices.
  • Experience in manufacturing soft gel health supplements is a big advantage.
  • Electrical knowledge is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and great interpersonal skills.
