About the role

The main focus of this role is to ensure plant equipment is kept in excellent operational order with great reliability achieved through well tabled preventative maintenance and dealing efficiently and quickly with breakdowns while adhering to robust safety standards. 

As a Fitter and Turner, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various components, machinery, equipment, utilities and facilities ensuring their optimal functionality and performance.

In this role you will:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and some electrical problems in various machines and equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools, machining equipment, and welding equipment.
  • Install new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper alignment and calibration.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and longevity of machines and equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and blueprints to determine repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines while working on machines and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.

To succeed in this role you need:

  • Fully Qualified Fitter Turner or Maintenance Engineer ideally with completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in the operation of air compressors, mixers, filling machines, conveyors, tanks, pumps and motors.
  • Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment that involves (liquid and powder) blending, mixing, filling, labelling, capping and batch coding equipment.
  • A working knowledge of NZ Health & Safety Standards
