Electrical Engineer

If you’re passionate about setting high standards in electrical engineering and developing your leadership experience, Kawerau awaits you! Join our client’s elite Engineering Resource Support Team (RST) and become a vital player in the heart of Kawerau’s industrial excellence.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Electrical Engineer, you’ll spearhead the development, support, and maintenance of our client’s cutting-edge process control systems (DCS, QCS, and drives), PLC systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, and management information systems.

About the Role:

  • Leadership Opportunities: Lead and develop a talented team of 9 permanent electrical and instrument trades personnel, ensuring top-tier standards and practices.
  • Innovative Projects: Get involved in exciting project developments, driving continuous improvement and supporting maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • High Accountability: Take charge of the Paper Machine electrical systems, setting and maintaining high standards for all planned maintenance schedules.
  • World-Class Maintenance: Champion initiatives that enhance runnability and reliability, reducing defective goods and costs in line with global best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Leadership: Manage and lead the department’s electrical drafting requirements and cover for wider engineering team absences.
  • System Excellence: Develop and uphold high standards for all electrical systems across the department.
  • Support and Input: Provide essential electrical and instrumentation support for all production and ancillary equipment, ensuring seamless operations and project execution.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Share insights and best practices across all RSTs to build a world-class operation.

What we are ideally seeking:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience ideally within packaging, paper, FMCG, process, dairy related environments
  • NZ EWRB registration and a tertiary qualification in engineering
  • Passion for engineering, hands-on approach and practical capability with supervisory experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in PLCs, process control systems (DCS, QCS and drives) preventative and corrective machinery maintenance
  • Diagnostic fault finding skills
  • Proficiency with SAP or related CMMS systems
  • Culturally adept with a calm demeanour
