Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

If you want a challenging, rewarding role with stable hours and no overtime commitments, where you can truly make a difference, then this opportunity is for you! We are seeking a certified electrical and mechanical maintenance engineer (dual trade) to join our well established Mt Maunganui based client who manufacture bakery products for both the local and export market. 

About the Role

Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to revolutionise in-line food manufacturing procedures, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality. Dive into the heart of the operation by swiftly troubleshooting mechanical and electrical machinery breakdowns, keeping the production line running smoothly day in and day out.
Your proactive hands on approach will see you responding to daily operational needs with precision and agility. Take charge of scheduling routine machine maintenance, seamlessly aligning it with the production plan for minimal disruption. With a keen eye for enhancement, drive forward production and value-add continuous improvements, optimizing processes and machines to their fullest potential. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in developing and maintaining the electrical and mechanical maintenance program to minimise plant downtime 
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical machinery breakdowns and enhancing in-line food manufacturing procedures whilst responding to daily operational needs
  • Collaborating on routine electrical machine and control system maintenance aligned with production plans, conducting plant checks and performing repairs as necessary
  • Managing spare parts inventory and identifying critical items
  • Implementing production and value improvements as needed
  • Providing comprehensive feedback to management on plant performance ensuring accurate documentation and efficient resource utilisation
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Abel) and Management Software (Power Bi)
  • Hands-on approach with a proactive “can do” attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile
  • Fostering effective communication and relationships across all levels

What we are ideally seeking:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of electrical/mechanical engineering experience with dual trade expertise in a manufacturing environment
  • NZEWRB Fully licensed electrician
  • Passion for engineering, hands-on approach, practical capability, and willingness to get stuck in and learn
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in PLCs, preventative and corrective machinery maintenance
  • Diagnostic fault finding skills
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Abel), Management systems (PowerBI)
  • Ability to work autonomously while also fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Hands-on approach with a proactive “can do” attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile
  • Culturally adept with a calm demeanour
  • Knowledge of 5S principles and lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety practices
